My brow now bears a crown.
I’ve put away my rod.
My body’s broken down
By the door of dear God.

CRISTO REDENTOR
Before the glorified came the Cross, the crucified – Paul Tillich
His death is now our daily nurse;
Its mystery
redeems above
our history,
at the verge of the universe-
His lasting love.

Like Jonah fainting in the fish,
he bore his blackouts of despair.
In valley of the shadow
he shuddered at the darkness there.
Longing to rise, to be erased,
he prayed to parry nothing’s knife.
A voice revived the revenant:
” I am the light, your only life.”

Remembered Names is a book of poems that I have written throughout the years of my life about my family, friends, and travels. It also contains late work of experiences I encounter each day.
To olive branch my verse,
to lay its leaves on love,
whose hurt I would rehearse,
as grace gave me its dive.
